Verifying your identity is the one moment MozaikPay asks who you are, and it's fair to wonder why an app built on self-custody asks at all. The requirement comes with the money rails, not from us. This page explains which actions need verification, why the check exists, and what happens to your information.
What needs it, and what doesn't
Nothing about using your wallet needs verification. You can receive digital dollars, send them to a username, share payment links, and deposit or withdraw crypto without ever showing an ID.
The check unlocks one specific thing, moving money between your wallet and the local money in your country, like your bank account or local payment apps. Those deposits and cash-outs run through licensed local partners, and the moment your money touches their systems, the rules of the banking world apply.
Why the check exists
Every country requires financial institutions to know who their customers are. The rules go by names like know-your-customer and anti-money-laundering, and they exist to keep stolen and criminal money out of the banking system. Your bank checked your ID when you opened your account for the same reason.
Our partners are licensed financial institutions, so the same duty falls on them. When you deposit, they're the ones handling your pesos, and the law says they must know whose pesos those are. MozaikPay adds no requirement of its own. We run the check once, in the app, on their behalf, and one approved check unlocks every local option for your country. Who sees your information
The check itself runs through a specialized identity verification service, inside the app. That's where you enter your details and photograph your document.
MozaikPay's servers store the outcome, not the contents. We only keep a record that your check passed, and we don't keep a copy of your document, your birth date, or your address on our servers. When our partner needs your details to open your account on their side, we pass along the fields they're legally required to hold, such as your name, birth date, document number, and address. The photo of your document never goes to them.
If you delete your account
Deleting your MozaikPay account removes your personal data from our systems and triggers the deletion of everything the verification service and our local partners hold about you. The only exception is records that financial regulations require to be kept for a set period. Those are erased when the period ends.
